SunTrust reported its gross consumer relief activities through the fourth quarter 2015 and first quarter 2016 under the National Mortgage Settlement (NMS) to Monitor Joseph A. Smith, Jr.
This data is self-reported, gross consumer relief and has not been tested against the Settlement’s crediting formulas.
According to the self-reported data, 24,764 SunTrust borrowers have benefited from some type of consumer relief. Of those borrowers, 689 received first-lien modification forgiveness totaling approximately $85 million, which, on average, represents about $124,458 per borrower. More than 7,600 borrowers received new loans; these borrowers are either first-time homebuyers, live in hardest-hit areas or previously lost a home to foreclosure or short sale.
SunTrust has self-reported $872,533,475 in total gross relief.
